Who we are and what we do


The Knights of Columbus Council 9736 of “Our Lady of the Sacred Heart” was formed as a service organization to meet the growing needs of our parish.  Historically, the membership has been about 70 men. The Council meets on the fourth Monday of the month.


Our council usually has the following fund-raisers each year:


Money raised by the Knights goes back to the Parish Community, in the following ways:
  • Provided start-up funds & spearheaded the drive to build & maintain the Prayer Garden
  • Food gift certificates for Parish families at Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas
  • Retreat for 8th grade class at the parish school & savings bonds for two 8th grade graduates
  • We sponsor the Children’s Christmas Party, the spelling bee and the Easter egg hunt
  • Special Christmas gifts for needy parish children; assistance to the Bazaar & other occasions
  • Educational stipends for Seminarians and tuition grants to Lansdale Catholic H.S.
  • Luminaries for Holy Thursday procession; Poinsettias to decorate the church for Christmas
  • Rosaries for RCIA, roses for Baptisms, and new vestments for the celebration of Mass
  • Support YO’s trip to Steubenville & supplement funding for those going on missions
  • Purchase of an Automatic Defibrillator for the church
  • Refurbishing the Chapel/Parish Center with rugs and repainting
  • Items for those with special needs including major campaigns for parish families in need
  • Sponsoring the basketball Free Throw Championship
  • Purchased projectors and die cutters for SASH & gift cards for the SASH teachers to supplement school supplies
  • Assist the pastor and school principal in meeting the needs of the parish and school

You will find that many members are involved with other parish activities, such as Eucharistic Ministers; ushers; finance, pastoral and liturgy committee members; Cub / Boy Scouts and CYO.  The Knights and their wives enjoy working together for the good of the Parish.  We are always looking for additional members – Come join us!

There are only three requirements to become a Knight: You must be a male, be 18 years of age or older, and be a practicing Catholic.
